Secretariat Council of Ministers


    The establishment and functioning of the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers comes under the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Cyprus, Arcticle 60.

    The main responsibilities of the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers are:

    · The preparation and submission of the Agenda for The Council of Ministers’ meetings to the Members of the Council, the compilation of which, according to the provisions of the Constitution (Article 56), is a constitutional responsibility of the President of the Republic.
    · The preparation of the minutes and dispatch of Council of Ministers’ decisions to the competent authorities or bodies.
    · The monitoring of the implementation for The Council of Ministers’ decisions.
    · The preparation of briefing Notes for The Council of Ministers and of relevant actions.
    · The publication of certain decisions of The Council of Ministers which, the Council itself, in each meeting, decides to publish (Article 57 of the Constitution of the Republic of Cyprus).


    The Council of Ministers, with its Decision No. 74995, dated 24/04/2013, entrusted the Secretariat Council of Ministers with the following additional responsibilities:

    · Monitoring of the implementation, of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the participation of the Secretary himself or a representative of his, in the Ministerial Monitoring Committee for the MoU, as well as resolving problems surfacing in the implementation procedure of the MoU.

    · Monitoring of the implementation concerning the Governance Programme of the President of the Republic, with the participation, either of the Secretary himself or a representative in the Monitoring Unit.
